An overview of Lost:
Lost is a television series about a group of people stranded on a mysterious island after a plane crash. The island has many special properties that include electromagnetic fields, time travel, spirits, and can even be considered to be Purgatory. During the 6 seasons, the characters are shown in the life that they lived before they came to the island, life while they were on the island, after they had left the island and came back to it, and life if their plane had never crashed on the island. The island is protected by a man named Jacob. Jacob brought all of the islanders to the island because they were candidates to take his place in protecting the island. The island changed everyone that went there. By this, I mean that everyone became free, the time that they spent on the island was the most meaningful time of their lives. The characters needed the island just as much as they needed one another. The main characters include: Jack Shepherd, James Ford, Kate Austen, Jin and Sun Kweon, John Lock, Desmond, Charlie, Claire, Micheal, and Hugeo. All of the characters lived unhappily before the island, a bad past, doing bad things.

About the Femme Fatale: Kate Austen
"A classic femme fatale resorts to murder to free herself from an unbearable relationship with a man that tries to control or posses her as if she were a piece of property or a pet."
Since Kate was 24 years old, she was running from the cops. Wanted for murder, resisting arrest, theft, assault, destruction of private property, identity theft, and more. Kate's and her mother's relationship was controlled and abused by her step-father. She is an example of a classic femme fatale by murdering her step-father.
Even as a child Kate was stealing from her neighborhood grocery store. This is why Jacob chose her to be a candidate, because all of the people that he chose would not be missed in the life that they left. Kate's father was a Military Sargent, and she still turned out to be a trouble maker. Although, it's not that Kate is a bad person its just that she has always lived on the run, running away from people trying to control her. Once Kate got to the island tho, she was free, free from her past, what happened before no longer mattered, she did not have to run anymore!

Kate was desired, wanted and messed with by most men on the island. Even Charlie was quick to hit on her.
"She uses her sex for pleasure and as a weapon or tool to control men, not merely in the culturally acceptable capacity of procreation within marriage. Her sexual emancipation commands the gaze of the hero"
Her seductive look, behavior, and body language all added to increase the power that the islanders entrusted with her. She was considered a leader and authority figure, a BAD BITCH on the island!!! This is an example of how she is entwined with the love triangle between herself, Jack, and Sawyer. She switches back and fourth between the two men based on who is in power at the present time. However, she is not controled by these men, instead she influences their decisions, and controls them. She uses her charisma, body, body language, deceitful words, and cunning personality to influence these men, because in the end she has to be in control she has to be on top, a leader, decision maker; free.
Her newly granted freedom, her seductive body language, her strive for control and attention, beauty, and charisma gave her power on the island. She used her power to seek out the men who who also in power at the time, including Jack and Sawyer, with their roller coaster love triangle. She used her power to get what she wanted on the island. For instance, the fact that she was a good tracker, even though she was a fragile little woman whom always got her self in trouble, she went on every adventure with the main men in power at the time. She used her skills in her power because being in control was something that she had to do, in every single situation.
Kate will do anything to be free from her past, the things she has done to people. She will always be running away from the decisions she made before she came to the island. Even on the island she continues to run away, because she continues to make decisions that are based solely on her own motives without any consideration to how they effect others. In fact, the only time she considers others is when she conspires against them in order to plan ahead for herself, her own benefit. This video is a compilation of some of the bad and good things that Kate did before she came to the island and while she was on the island. Although Kate does not eat anyone she does some really hurtful things to most of the people she encounters before and while on the island, mostly towards men because she knows that she can use her sexuality against them for her own good.
Annie, Maggie, Joan, Lucy, and Monica are all names and identities that Kate went by through out the season. This is another example of how twisted she was. Manipulating everyone that she came in contact with. For example, she married a man, who was also a con-artist, she lied to him about what her name was where she came from and even ended up killing him when they completed a long con together.
Start at 30 seconds
This is a clip that shows Kate right after she saw Jack and Juilete flirting laughing and talking, after Jack told Kate that he did not want her anymore that he was interested in Juilete. This scene in season three shows how ruthless Kate is. First of all, she was hurt by Jack and was no longer sleeping with him and needed someone to have so she settled for Sawyer, using him for her sexual desires, with no interest with the fact that he was falling in love with her. As long as she got hers that is all that mattered. Second of all, she slept with Sawyer that night to make Jack jealous, to make Jack have a reaction to see how he would respond to it. Thrid of all, Kate has to be in control of every situation. Things have to go her way. If she is not in control she feels weak, and weakness is something that she does not put up with. A prime example of a Femme Fatale.
This is a clip of Sawyer helping Kate escape and get a head start on her run from the airport police (even though he is a cop) if their plane had never crashed. He lets her go because she is attractive and smiles at him on the plane. If she would have been an ugly hood rat he would have never let her go.
